Poppa G
Another new 23.95m lobster fishing vessel has been launched for Bass Marine of Port Denison. Having an overall length of 25.4m, the new vessel will share the crown of largest cray fishing vessel in Australia with the latest 23.95m launch for Tebco Fishing, also due for delivery in 2018. Physical dimensions are where the similarities stop though.
Poppa G features a raised wheelhouse, providing improved visibility and greater interior volume. As a result, she accomodates up to 13 crew and has a live tank capacity of 204 baskets. As a multipurpose utility vessel, heavy duty cranes will be able to be installed on the aft deck for work in the oil and gas sector.
The new vessel is a combined build between Geraldton based Xtreme Marine and Port Denison based Dongara Marine. It features the same composite wheelhouse and aluminium hull arrangement as seen on the recent pilot boats and new generation fishing boats.
